Troubleshooting

The following checklists are intended to help you if something doesn't work.
The checklists are not necessarily complete, but the most common errors should be listed.
These checklists will be extended with further liveSHOWsoftware updates.

Sound
DMX-Light
Media
Trigger/Midi
Remote
Touchscreen

Sound

Problems:

No sound can be heard even though the timeline is running and a sound object is being played or a sound jingle is running.
The sound is very quiet

Checklist liveSHOWsoftware:

Is the correct sound card set?
Menu 'Sound' - 'Sound Cards Output'
Have any soundlines been set for the sound objects that are not played by any sound card?
Object Settings, Sound Cards Output
Has the main mixing console's sound control been turned off?
Menu: 'Window' - 'Main Mixer'
Is the volume of the sound object in the timeline or jingle set too low?
double-click on the sound object and then control the'Volume' in the object settings. Object Settings.

Checklist OS:

Is the volume control of the operating system (Windows Mac) possibly shut down or is the sound muted?

Checklist Hardware:

Is the sound output of the computer connected to the mixer/speaker?
Check the cable connection!
Check the cable wobblers!
Is the external sound card connected to the computer?
Check the USB cable!
Is the mute button in the audio mixer pressed or the channel controller shut down?
Is the solo button of another channel controller in the audio mixer pressed?
Is the main control of the sound mixer turned down?

DMX Light

Problems:

One or more lamps do not react, although in the stage view the controls of a lamp are set so that it should actually light up.

Checklist liveSHOWsoftware:

Is the USB DMX interface connected and connected to the CommPort?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Hardware Settings'
Please also check whether the DMX universe is connected to an input or output (e.g. with ENTTEC DMX USB pro)!
Is the correct network setting made for a LAN interface?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Hardware Settings'
Is the DMX universe connected to the DMX interface?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Hardware Settings'
Is one of the DMX controls in the main mixer shut down?
Menu: 'Window' - 'Main Mixer'
Is the lamp set to 'mute' in the stage view?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Stageview'
Is one of the lamps set to 'solo' in the stage view?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Stageview '
Is the correct DMX universe specified for the lamp?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Stageview' - (tabular display)
Countercheck at the hardware lamp.
Is the correct DMX start address given for the lamp?
Menu: 'DMX Light' - 'DMX Stageview' - (tabular display)
Countercheck at the hardware lamp
Has a DMX jingle been started that overwrites the timeline?

Checklist OS:

Is the driver for the USB DMX interface installed?
ATTENTION: During major Windows updates (function updates) uncertified drivers (e.g. DMX4All drivers) are removed.
These must be re-installed after such an update.
Under Linux: the linux-user must be assigned to the group 'dialout' to access the USB DMX interfaces
Instructions for assigning users to groups under Linux, are available on the Internet..

Checklist Hardware:

Is the lamp connected to the universe (DMX cable between DMX interface and lamp or from one lamp to the next)?
Check the cable!
Is the correct DMX start address set for the lamp?
Compare the start address of the lamp with the settings in the liveSHOWsoftware!
Is the lamp set to the correct channel mode (number of DMX channels)?
In the liveSHOW software, the number of DMX channels of a lamp is displayed in the stage view - right mouse click on the lamp.
Is the USB DMX interface connected to the computer?
Check USB cable!
Is there a network connection to the Lan Interface?
Check network cable / WLAN!
Check the Lan hardware settings with the settings in the liveSHOW software!

W-DMX (radio transmitter and receiver)

Are the transmitter and receiver switched on or do they still have enough battery power?
Are the transmitter and receiver switched on in the correct order?
Often the transmitter and then the receiver (lamps) must be switched on first!
Have the transmitter and receiver set the same radio channel?
Is there a barrier between transmitter and receiver (wall, decoration,..)?
Are there any jamming transmitters (viewer mobile phones, house WLAN,...)?
If necessary, change the radio channel of transmitter and receiver!

If necessary, switch the lamp off and on again,
Sometimes the software of the lamp hangs up.
Some lamp configurations require a DMX terminating resistor at the end of the DMX chain.

Media

Checklist liveSHOWsoftware:

Is the media server connected to the liveSHOWsoftware?
Menu: 'Media' - 'Media Server'
Is there a network connection between the computer on which the liveSHOW software runs and the computer on which the liveSHOW_MediaServer software runs?
Is the media object assigned to a media server?
Double-click on the media object and then select 'Select media server' in the object settings 'Mediaobject settings.
Is the 'Transparency(Media)' in the Media object in the Timeline / Jingle correct?
Double click on the media object and then check'Volume(Sound)..Transparency(Media)' in the object settings!
Is the media object in the right track (Z-order, layer)?
For objects in the timeline, the images/films in an upper track are displayed in front of the images/films in a lower track!
Is the width and height specified correctly in the object settings of the media object?
Double click on the media object and then check the width and height in the object settings ' Media Object Settings'.

Checlist liveSHOW_MediaServer:

Has the media server started?
see Help in the liveSHOW_MediaServer software.
Is the correct output display set?
see Help in the liveSHOW_MediaServer software.

Checklist OS:

Is the beamer set as extra display?
Windows 10: Click with the right mouse button on the desktop and then with the left mouse button on 'Display settings'.
In the settings window you can select under 'Multiple screens' whether the display should be duplicated (all screens and beamers display the same) or expanded (screens and beamers display different things and expand the display).
Mac OS: Open the 'System Preferences' - Click on 'Monitors' - In the 'Arrange' section, uncheck 'Synchronize screens' - You will see the screens on top of each other, drag a screen with the mouse to the left or right to expand the display.

Trigger/Midi

Checklist liveSHOWsoftware:

Is a SPIT_Client (e.g. SPIT_MidiClient) connected to the liveSHOWsoftware?
Is there a network connection between the liveSHOWsoftware computer and the SPIT_Client software computer?

Is an action assigned to a trigger object (timeline or jingle) in the SPIT_Client?
Is a command of the SPIT_Client (e.g. midi command) assigned to a remote control command of the liveSHOWsoftware?
See help of the respective SPIT_Client!
Is a Midi output or Midi input device assigned in the SPIT_MidiClient software?
Is a Midi device connected to the computer?
See Help in the SPIT_MidiClient Software!

Remote

Android remote control:

Is there a WLAN connection between the Android device and the computer on which the liveSHOW software runs?
Both must be registered at the same access point, or one of them must take over the role of the access point and the other must register with the access point!
The easiest way to switch on the Android device is to switch on the access point (Android settings-more tethering/mobile hotspot) and connect the computer to the access point of the Android device!
Is the remote server started in the liveSHOW software?
Are users created and their user name and password correct?
liveSHOWsoftware Menu: 'Settings' - 'Remote Settings'

Wireless mouse/presenter remote control:

Is the mouse over the remote control panel of the playback control and is this green?
Menu: 'Window' - 'Play Control'
Is the mouse keypad remote control started?
Menu 'Settings' - 'start mouse keyboard remote control'
Sind den Fernsteuerbefehlen die richtigen Mausbuttons/Presentertasten zugeordnet?
Menu: 'Settings' - 'Remote Control Settings (mouse, keyboard, DMX)'

Touchscreen

Problems:

The touch screen cannot be operated with your fingers.
The touchscreen behaves strange when touched.

Checklist:

Is the USB cable of the touch screen connected to the computer?
The MAC does not support touchscreens correctly! Here you cannot do without a mouse!
