Textbook

(Menu_Windows Windows) -> ( Textbook)

In the textbook, a long text can be created or loaded from an RTF file.
Scene bridges and jingle groups can be added to the text.
The liveSHOWsoftware can be controlled by starting scene bridges or jingle groups.

Comparison to the scene book

While only short stage directions make sense in the scene book, a long stage direction text can be used in the text book. In a play, for example, this could be the actors' text.
Scene bridges can be entered in the text. If a scene bridge is started, the text can automatically scroll to the corresponding position.
In the textbook, the scene bridges have to be entered manually, whereas in the scene book, the scene bridges are managed automatically.

Loading text (RTF file)

A text file (RTF file) can be loaded with the  button. The current existing text will be deleted and the newly loaded text will be displayed.
Limitations:
The RTF file is not changed, the textbook itself is saved as RTF file in the project folder when saving or exporting a project, the RTF file gets the name of the project.

The insertion and modification of scene bridges, jibgle groups and text

Normal Text
The text can be edited as in other text programs.  With the key combination 'Ctrl'+'C' (copy under Windows, Linux) or 'command'+'C' (copy under MAC) a marked text area can be copied.
With 'Ctrl'+'V' (paste under Windows, Linux) or 'command'+'C' (paste under MAC) a copied text can be pasted at the current text position. Text from other programs can also be copied and pasted into the textbook. If an RTF-formatted text is copied from another program, the formatting (font type, text color, ...) is taken over. A non-RTF formatted text will be pasted with the current formatting.
With the formatting buttons (see below) the font type, text color,... can be changed.

Restrictions: You cannot use tables, images or similar complex formatting.

Scene bridges
A click on opens a list of the existing scene bridges, the order of the scene bridges corresponds to the order in the timeline.

A mouse click on a scene bridge inserts it at the current text position.

A scene bridge element is like a letter in the text, it can be deleted with the remove key, further text can be inserted before and after it, and so on.

The red elements are main scene bridges and the gray elements are 'normal' scene bridges for one of the areas Sound, DMX or Media.

A scene bridge element is divided into two sections:
  1. A click with the right mouse button on the name opens the list of existing scene bridges and another scene bridge can be selected.
By clicking on in the list, the scene bridge is removed from the text.
  2. A mouse click on starts the scene bridge
Jinge groups

A click on opens a list of the existing jingle groups in alphabetic order

A mouse click on a jinglegroup inserts it at the current text position.

A jinglegroup element is like a letter in the text, it can be deleted with the Remove key, additional text can be inserted before and after it, and so on.

A jingle group element is divided into two sections :
  1. A click with the right mouse button on the name of a jingle group element opens the list of existing jingle groups and another jingle group can be selected.
By clicking on in the list, the jingle group element is removed from the text.
  2. Das Steuern der Jinglegruppe:
    Starts the jingle group
All jingles of the jingle group are started and the individual jingles play through to the end.
Fading in the jingles of a jingle group
All jingles of the jingle group are started, when the last jingle is faded in, all jingles pause.
    Continue playing the jingle
If all jingles pause after the last jingle has faded in, all jingles can be restarted and will play through to the end.
Directly fade out all jingles of a jingle group.
All jingles of a jingle group are faded out. The individual jingles do NOT play through to the end, but are directly faded out as specified in their respective settings.
Stopping all jingles of a jingle group
All jingles of a jingle group are stopped.
Note: If individual jingles are to be operated in the textbook, a jingle group with only one jingle must be created.

Editing the textbook file with another program

The textbook is saved as an RTF file in the project folder. The name of the RTF file corresponds to the project name. You can open this file with an external RTF program (e.g. Wordpad under Windows), edit it and save it again.
In the external RTF program, the scene bridge elements are not displayed as in the textbook, but as code text (<Scene>Scenebridgename;SceneBrideID</Scene>). You should take care not to change these code texts!
In addition, the liveSHOWsoftware, or the project should be closed, otherwise conflicts (write permissions) can occur when saving.
For the same reason you should close the external RTF program, before you open the project again with the liveSHOWsoftware!

Note: Saving text in RTF format is not handled the same way by every program. You may need to try out whether editing the textbook with another program works - make a copy of the RTF file first.
Note: A simple text editor (e.g. editor under Windows) does not support text formatting in RTF format. If you edit the textbook file with a simple text editor, you will lose the text formatting.

The representation of the scene bridges or jingle groups in the text

No frame: Normal display of the scene bridge.

  • The scene bridge is currently playing.
  • The jingle goups plays all  contained jingle
Orange frame:
  • The cursor in the timeline has stopped before the scene bridge.
  • The jingle group plays only one some contained jingle
Purple  frame: The order of the scene bridges does not match the order in the Timeline.
Either the wrong scene bridge was selected or the scene bridge was moved in the timeline.
Red frame and white background: The scene bridge does not exist in the Timeline or the jingle group does not exists.
Either an RTF file was loaded from another project or the scene bridge was removed from the timeline. or the jingle group was deleted

The saving

If a project is saved or exported, the textbook is saved automatically as an RTF file in the project folder. The RTF file gets the same name as the project.
