Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2 Interface

Here an Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2 interface can be configured and connected.

Step 1 - Connect hardware and set Comm Port:

a) The Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2 interface must be plugged into the computer.
b) The driver (VCP) for the Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2 Interface must be installed (Windows or Mac: see www.enttec.com)
c) If the driver is installed and the device is plugged into the computer, all available ports are listed under Comm Port:
Under Windows:

CommPort.png   Refresh.pngupdates the list
The comm ports under Windows are COMx, where x is a number. For each USB device that communicates with the computer via a serial interface, a comm port is created. If several USB devices are available on the computer, several comm ports are also listed.
Either try the list or you look in the Windows Device Manager for the right port.

Under Mac OSX:
Enttec uses the FTDI drivers (FTDIUSBSerialDriverxxxx.dmg).
In the list of comm ports, locate the serial port (tty.usbserial-xxxxxxx), if multiple devices with FTDI drivers are connected, you must try the ports or find out the correct port in the MAC system settings.

Step 2 - Further settings:

Baudrate
Enttec connects internally with 250000 baud.

Port 1 and Port 2

The Enttec DMX USB Pro MK2 interface has two ports (Port1 and Port 2) via the whip cables.
Each port can be operated either as input or as output.
The port 2 can also be operated as a MIDI input and output.

Select your desired operating mode.
  • Output: You must connect a DMX cable to the output of the Enttec interface. All changes to the DMX channels are sent by the software to the Enttec interface and then transmitted to the lamps via DMX.
  • Input: You must connect a DMX cable to the input of the Enttec interface. Any changes to the DMX signal coming from the cable will be scanned and then transferred to the software
  • MIDI (Port 2 only): When MIDI is set, port 2 can NOT be used as a DMX connector.
MIDI is not supported directly in the liveSHOWsoftware, but via the extra software liveSHOW_MIDI software. Thus it makes no sense in the liveSHOWsoftware to set the port 2 as a MIDI port!

Step 3 - Hardware connect

If everything is set, the interface can be connected.
